AC Milan winger Rafael Leão may cost less than many suitors anticipated after he all but confirmed his Rossoneri exit.
Leão, 26, who will form part of Roberto Martínez's Portugal squad at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, could be on the move this transfer window after admitting he would be open to a new "challenge" following seven seasons with AC Milan, a period in which he helped the side win Serie A and the Supercoppa Italiana.
Despite contributing 10 goals last term, Leão could only help Milan to a disappointing fifth-place finish in Serie A, meaning they missed out on Champions League qualification for a second successive season, ultimately leading to the recent sacking of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Both Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner continue to be linked with the vacancy, but they are unlikely to work with Leão next season.

Speaking to the Portuguese media last week, the winger, who is contracted to the Serie A giants until 2028, said: "I'm proud because I made history at AC Milan, but I want a new chapter. I feel ready to play in another league. I did my best for Milan, but it's time to try another challenge."
Reports in Italy suggest the player has a €175 million (£151.4 million) release clause written into his deal.
However, Milan are now reportedly willing to accept offers of around €40 million (£34.6 million), according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Leão confesses to Premier League dream
A separate report from The Standard claims Manchester United are currently the Premier League club most likely to sign Leão as they look to strengthen their left flank ahead of a season in which they will compete on four fronts — the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Leão has previously voiced his admiration for both Man United and Arsenal, explaining how he used to watch them as a child.
"Yeah, of course I like Manchester United because my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, so back then I used to watch them," he said in a previous interview.
"I like Arsenal as well."
In a separate interview with Gaffer in 2023, he revealed how "every player", including himself, is keen to play in England's top flight.
He said: "I think every player wants to play in the Premier League because it's a very competitive league. It has exciting football, great teams and a worldwide audience.
"Serie A is currently very well positioned in the football world, but I would definitely have to say the Premier League in the future. Football-wise, my goal is to win the Champions League and a Ballon d’Or.”
Leão earns a reported €172,500 (£149,100) per week.
