Achraf Hakimi has learned how long he will be out for after falling victim to Luis Diaz’s poor challenge in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Diaz had a rather eventful evening in Paris and had scored a first-half brace before being sent off in added time of the first 45 minutes at the Parc des Princes.
As half-time neared, the Moroccan right-back dispossessed Diaz before running up the line while the former Liverpool man tried to retrieve possession before lunging trying to nick the ball back, but the Colombian mistimed his tackle and landed on Hakimi’s lower leg.
The Moroccan left the field in tears with fans instantly suggesting that he could miss the upcoming Afcon in his home country, which begins on December 21.

After the match, Diaz posted a message on social media in which he wished Hakimi a “quick return to the pitch”. The winger will be suspended for Bayern's trip to Arsenal on November 26.

PSG boss Luis Enrique was also asked about the player, to which he replied: “I don't know, we have to wait for the tests tomorrow… Hakimi, it's football, a contact sport, it's a shame.”
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany also wished Hakimi well.

Then on Wednesday, French outlet RMC reported that the right-back will likely be out for “several weeks”, and the “expected recovery time” could keep him out of the start of Afcon.
The outlet wrote: “No fracture has been detected: it is a severe sprain. The internal ligaments of his left ankle are affected.
“This suggests he will be sidelined for six to eight weeks. He is therefore unlikely to play again for Paris in 2025. It remains to be seen whether the Moroccan will recover in time for his major tournament in the coming months: the Africa Cup of Nations.”

2025 Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele also picked up a calf injury against Bayern and is expected to miss Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash away at Lyon.
He is also unlikely to be available for France’s final two World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
PSG lead Ligue 1 by two points after 11 matches, with Marseille and Lens on level points in second and third.
