Arsenal and Chelsea boosted in Joao Palhinha hunt as Liverpool stance revealed

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a timely boost in their pursuit of Joao Palhinha

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a boost in their hunt for Fulham star Joao Palhinha.

During the summer transfer window, Palhinha was on the verge of leaving Fulham for German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

However, the transfer collapsed on deadline day despite the Portuguese being pictured in Bayern gear.

Since then, the 28-year-old signed a new deal with Fulham.

Despite signing a new deal, his future is again the talk of the town as the January transfer window fast approaches.

In recent weeks, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for Palhinha.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano recently said: “What I can confirm about Palhinha, this was around the media in recent days, is that there are also English clubs interested in Palhinha.”

Now, the Gunners and Chelsea have been handed a big boost as Liverpool’s stance in the transfer saga has been revealed.

According to This Is Anfield, Liverpool are not planning to make a move for the Fulham star, who is set to be priced at around £70-£80 million.

It has been claimed that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has no plans to bolster his defensive midfield options with a move for Palhinha during the January transfer window.

Also, it has been noted that at the age of 28, Palhinha is outside the usual age range that Liverpool have targeted under their owners Fenway Sports Group.

During the summer transfer window, Liverpool underwent a big midfield overhaul after losing the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

In turn, Klopp brought in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Liverpool’s new-look midfield has gelled together very quickly as they currently sit top of the Premier League with 37 points, one point ahead of Arsenal.
