New FIFA 22 Gameplay Features

While all the changes to menus and game modes are important, the gameplay is the bread and butter of any FIFA game. This year sees a huge overhaul making the most of the power of the next-gen consoles.

Hypermotion & True Ball Physics

Every little aspect of real-life football has been taken into account with hypermotion and true ball physics. EA Sports recorded a full 11 against 11 match with tracking technology which gives improvement to the tactical AI, the flow of matches, player humanisation, composed ball control, and Kinectic Air Battles.

Goalkeeper Rewrite

Goalkeepers have had a huge overhaul with all-new animations and improved AI decision-making for the man between the sticks. Each goalkeeper will be given their own personality which will affect their positioning and shot-stopping making them feel more realistic than ever before.

Explosive Sprint

Unleash a huge burst of pace to get past opposition defenders with the new explosive sprint. This allows you to choose when to put the burners on with your fastest players and leave your rivals in your dust.

Rivals and FUT Champs

Both Rivals and FUT Champs have had a big overhaul in the way you climb the ranks and get the best rewards in the game. There’s new seasonal progression and ranks in Rivals which allow you to qualify for the new look FUT Champs. Compete in the play-offs to earn enough points to enter the Finals each weekend.

Stadium Customisation

Following on from FIFA 21 there’s now more customisation than ever before to your own stadium in Ultimate Team. A brand-new VIP area, flags, cards, and banners allow you to create the best-looking stadiums in the world.

FUT Heroes

19 fan favourite ballers have been added to Ultimate Team with all-new FUT Hero cards. With league-specific and nationality chemistry links these heroes can take your squad to the next level. Some of the Heroes announced include Tim Cahill, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and David Ginola!

Co-op Public Matchmaking

Team up with your friends with an improvement to the Co-op game mode on Ultimate Team. Take on other duos with your Co-op specific squads in a classic friendly game mode.

Drop-In with Friends

A new look drop-in mode allows you to play alone or with friends even if they’re not part of your current club. Drop-in also makes the most of your play styles putting you in your preferred position so you no longer have to fight to get the position of your choice!

Customisation

Both your Pro and team have more customisation than ever before. For the first time ever, you can create a female Virtual Pro and all-new Archetypes give your Pro huge boosts in the stats you want. On the team front, you get all of the Ultimate Team stadium customisation from FIFA 21 including goal songs, Tifos and crowd chants.

There are TWENTY-SIX brand new perks to pick from to make your Pro the best player on the pitch. There are three slots for you to fill across different positions on the pitch including attacking, defending, chance creation and goalkeeper.

Create a club

The standout new feature on career mode this year is the chance to create your own club and replace a real-life team in any league you like. Set your identity, kit & crest, stadium, squad, and board priorities. Then all that's left to do is lead your custom team to glory.

Player Career

Player career has received a big overhaul, making it more immersive than ever before. New in-depth objectives and manager ratings see more realistic targets that you need to meet or you may be dropped to the bench. Although you can now join a game mid-action as you can come on as a substitute mid-game.

More additions

Dressing room cutscenes, perks, expanded news and stories, skill trees and new XP targets are set to make this the most immersive career mode ever.

Volta Arcade

Volta has been the fun and casual side of FIFA and with the new arcade mode, this takes it to the next level. Brand new party games including Dodgeball, Disco Lave, and Corner scramble can see you and three friends team up to earn Volta coins and XP.

Gameplay

A new skill meter is a throwback to the original Fifa Street games. Fill up the meter with skills and passes to multiple the goal meter and turn games on their head. Signature abilities fill throughout the game before letting you unleash them on your opponents. The abilities are Power Strike, Pure Pace, and Aggressive Tackle. Finally after scoring run to your teammates for all-new two-player celebrations!

Volta Seasons

Volta Seasons provides a never-ending stream of content throughout the year giving you more to unlock than ever before. Complete challenges and objectives to earn XP which will get you new gear for your Pro and Volta coins to spend in the store!
