Everton fan left 4-1 Brighton thrashing early, so did his Uber driver

Everton were battered 4-1 at home to Brighton and one fan has revealed he and the Uber driver who took him to town both left early.

An Everton fan left Goodison Park when Brighton went 4-0 up on Tuesday night - and incredibly the Uber driver who picked him up also walked out early.

The Toffees held Premier League champions Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad on Saturday, with Demarai Gray scoring a sensational equaliser to claim a point.

But just days later and Everton were humbled 4-1 at home to Brighton. Kaura Mitouma put the visitors 1-0 up 14 minutes in before the Seagulls ran riot in a crazy spell after half-time.

Evan Ferguson, Solly March and Pascal Gross all struck in a six-minute period. Gray scored a consolation in stoppage time but Goodison was already empty at that point.

One supporter who left was @MatFlusk, who tweeted to say he had got up out of his seat and exited the ground as soon as Gross seized on Idrissa Gueye's error and dinked the ball past Jordan Pickford.

He'd seen enough and got an Uber back to the town centre. But hilariously, the fella providing his lift was also an Everton fan who left long before the final whistle was blown.

He tweeted: "I'm not saying the Everton game was bad but I left on 4-0 and the Uber driver who took us back to town was also at the game."

A few folks were sceptical about his tale and how it was possible but he confirmed that the cabman left before him.

"Assure you it did," he replied after being told it didn't happen.

"Him at 3 us at 4."

Everton are 16th in the league, with just three wins so far this season. Their last victory in all competitions was a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in October.

Just one point off the relegation zone, Everton will find themselves in the bottom three if Nottingham Forest or Wolves win their respective fixtures on Wednesday evening.
