Joey Barton has been slammed for yet another attack on the England women's team this time relating to his reply to the father of Beth Mead after the Lionesses' incredible Euro 2025 win.
After a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes of action, Sarina Wiegman's heroes beat Spain 3-1 on penalties to retain their European crown and make history as the first England side to win a major tournament on home soil.
Though Beth Mead missed on the retake after an accidental double-touch on her scoring effort - and Leah Williamson was denied by Cata Coll - conversion from Alex Greenwood and Niamh Charles coupled with Salma Paralluelo's wayward and Hannah Hampton's two penalty saves gave Chloe Kelly the chance to be the match-winner.
A woman for the big occasions, Kelly did not pass up the opportunity and promptly smashed in a powerful penalty into the top corner to win the Euros.

Joey Barton slammed for England Lionesses social media comments
After the final whistle, Barton took to X and wrote: "Well done to the Lioness [sic] winning the Nonsense Pottery Trophy. Those penalties were borderline embarrassing again.
"Don’t ever ask for equal pay again. Youse are miles off it."
Barton, capped once by England in 2007, did not stop there and even replied to the father of Euros winner Mead, who was among those to win the competition for the second time.
Rich Mead took to X and praised his daughter and the team in a message to the haters, commenting: "To all the snipers out there criticising women’s football, guess what my daughter is a double European champion, how many people can say that, well done lionesses."
However, Barton chimed in and again called out the penalties, replying: "Talk to me about those pens Richy boy…"
As expected, Barton, who infamously claimed he could score 100 penalties in a row against former England goalkeeper Mary Earps, was met with immediate backlash - with one fan calling his comments disgusting.
England celebrated their triumph with an open top bus parade. Give your little head a wobble."
A second wrote: "Your career will never stack up next to Beth Mead, she’s far surpassed you!"
A third vented: "Why? His daughter has won the Euros twice. Winners celebrate & repeat. Losers focus on the noise. Next."
England's heroes are poised to share a whopping £1.7 million bonus pot that they had agreed with the FA, while many are set to be rewarded in the next honours list.
Although not a British citizen, Wiegman is in line for a honorary damehood to recognise the incredible job she has done with England.
