The top speed of Chloe Kelly's thunderous Euro 2025 winning penalty against Spain has been revealed and it eclipses all strikes in the Premier League last season.

The match-winner in the Euro 2022 triumph over Germany on home soil, Kelly stepped up on the big occasion once again and smashed in the spot-kick which crowned the Lionesses European champions once again in Basel.

England went 1-0 down to Mariona Caldentey's opener but Alessio Russo levelled matters with a brilliant header of her own and Sarina Wiegman's side battled to extra time and ultimately a penalty shoot-out, where Hannah Hampton made two excellent saves.

First half substitute Kelly, who missed from 12 yards but scored the rebound for the semi-final winner against Italy, lashed home past Cata Coll to make it 3-1 in the shoot-out and give England a first ever major tournament win on foreign soil.

The Arsenal star is something of a penalty specialist and also scored the winner in the 2023 Women's Finalissima, while this strike was eerily similar to a thunderbolt against Nigeria in the World Cup two years back.

According to ESPN, citing Connected Ball Technology inside the adidas Konektis Finale match ball, the goal was the fastest of Euro 2025 and clocked in at 110km/h.

The strike was so powerful in fact, that it beat any effort in the Premier League last season. As per TNT Sports, Newcastle Alexander Isak set that record with a stunning goal against Liverpool which came in at 109km/h.

Kelly celebrated with a 'calma' gesture which was branded "cocky" by the Spanish press, and spoke of her incredible confidence in an ITV interview which prompted an apology for some colourful language.

“I was cool," the 27-year-old said.

"I missed against Italy, and then I hit the tap-in in. I knew I wasn’t going to miss twice."

She added: "This team is made of magic and steel. When we were down against Sweden and down against Italy, we f***ing showed grit and determination and we came back.

"You can't write the English off."

England stars like Kelly will share a £1.7 million bonus pot following their achievement, which will be marked with an open-top bus parade on Tuesday.
