Forgotten England player's international career officially lasted zero minutes but still isn't the shortest on record

The England player made just one appearance for his country and it didn't even last a full minute.

An England player's one and only cap for his country lasted ZERO minutes and yet it is still not the shortest in history.

According to the official England website, 1292 players have represented England - with Myles Lewis-Skelly the latest to do so when he scored on his debut against Albania in Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge in March.

It was a dream start for the Arsenal left-back and a very different to the one and only game Nathaniel Chalobah, the 1237th player to represent the Three Lions at senior level.

Having moved to the country when he was seven, Chelsea youth product Chalobah played for England at every youth level from England Under 16's onwards and on 15 October 2018, he became a full international.

Chalobah was playing for Watford at the time and came on as a late substitute for Harry Winks in England's historic 3-2 UEFA Nations League win over Spain.

He came on in stoppage time and technically played zero minutes - though his actual time on the pitch was 6 minutes and 54 seconds as England held on for a first victory in Spain in 31 years.

Chalobah, who went on to play for Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday, did not play again for England and is in a one-cap club alongside David Nugent, Joey Barton, Jay Bothroyd, Kevin Davies, Jon Flanagan and Matt Jarvis.

A second Chalobah is set to play for England

Having been handed his first call-up, the midfielder's younger brother Trevoh will match his England appearance tally if he features in upcoming games against Andorra and Senegal.

Chalobah Jr, who was recalled by Chelsea in January after impressing on loan at Crystal Palace, will be hoping his debut lasts longer than his older brother's.

Interestingly, Chalobah doesn't hold the record for the shortest England career. Former Liverpool and Palace defender Martin Kelly had a cameo against Norway in May 2012 which lasted two minutes and thirty-nine seconds mere - one second shorter than less than Chalobah with added time factored in.

Kelly was part of England's squad for Euro 2012 but suffered from a virus during the tournament and remained unused throughout in Ukraine and Poland.
