Arsenal fans convinced Vinicius Jr transfer is on after Roc Nation post as Mikel Arteta acts

The president of Roc Nation, Michael Yormark, has sent Arsenal supporters into meltdown with a social media post, hours after posting a scathing statement about the media.

Vinicius Jr, who has 12 months left on his Real Madrid contract, has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, and it has been widely reported that the Gunners are keen to make the Brazilian the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

On August 1, The Athletic reported that Real Madrid and Vini’s agent had, in fact, opened talks regarding a new contract at the Santiago Bernabéu, but no agreement had been reached.

Meanwhile, a move to the Premier League champions reportedly appeals to the player, with personal terms not expected to be an issue and Mikel Arteta taking charge of the operation to sign the Brazilian, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS.

The outlet claims Arteta has explained how Vini could contribute to Arsenal and has told him he would be an important part of the club’s plans, with the team largely expected to revolve around the player should he sign.

AS also reports that a deal is expected to reach €150 million (£130 million).

On Sunday (August 2), Vinicius Jr’s agency slammed what it described as “fake and damaging” reports from the media, with the organisation’s president, Yormark, posting on Instagram.

"Roc Nation Sports International and our entire team cannot stand idle when unprofessional and uninformed media publish fake and damaging information for attention-seeking purposes,” he wrote.

"This is especially unacceptable when it personally targets our clients without any foundation.

"It is disruptive, harmful and libellous. Media outlets and journalists need to hold themselves more accountable."

Roc Nation also manages soon-to-be Real Madrid winger Yan Diomande, as well as Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

Vini Jr's agency gets Arsenal fans excited

Despite hitting out at the media, Yormark has since convinced Arsenal fans that the deal is happening by posting a photograph of an airport departure board showing that he was boarding a flight to London Heathrow.

One fan reacted: “Vinicius’s agent, Michael Yormark, dropping off some hints for us guys. This is a very important week for all Arsenal fans.”

Another added: “Could this be the start of official negotiations for Vini to move to Arsenal?”

While a third posted: “Things you love to see.”

Arsenal have already welcomed Piero Hincapié, Ilian Meslier and Christos Tzolis to the Emirates this summer, while Karl Hein, Jakub Kiwior and Leandro Trossard have departed.

Arteta and his side’s pre-season commitments continue this week with a friendly against Real Betis in Dublin, Ireland, on August 5 before facing Borussia Dortmund and Como at the Emirates on August 9 and 12.

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 16 before getting their Premier League campaign underway at home against Coventry on August 21.
