Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly facing a whopping £1 million fine for his interview with Piers Morgan.

In an explosive 90-minute chat that will air on TalkTV later this week, Ronaldo claimed he has been "betrayed" by Manchester United and that he feels as though he is being forced out.

In a series of clips which were posted online, he revealed he does not "have respect" for current manager Erik ten Hag, said he had "never heard" of Ralf Rangnick before he became interim boss and slammed the club's sitting and facilities.

In addition, the 37-year-old also accused United of displaying a "lack of empathy" when his three-month old daughter was hospitalised and says they doubted his reasons for not showing up to pre-season in July.

As per Sky Sports, Ten Hag and Ronaldo's teammates are said to be "extremely disappointed" with the interview, with United's top brass not initially aware of the interview.

And Metro say Ronaldo is in line for a hefty punishment for giving the interview. In October, as a result of refusing to come on as a substitute against Spurs, he was fined two weeks' wages and it appears as United will again come down hard on the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

It's unlikely he will play for the club again after the comments made. He was absent from the last-gasp 2-1 win over Fulham through illness, though he was reportedly slated to be included in the matchday squad to begin with but told he would not be starting.

It's unknown when the interview was recorded but according to Morgan, Ronaldo approached him and not the other way around.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "Cristiano asked me to do it. Simple as that. I didn't ask him, he asked me.

"He's been thinking about this for a while, it's no secret he has build up deep frustration about what has been happening at United.

"He feels he has to speak out, he knows it will be incendiary, will rattle some changes, but he also feels he should be doing this. He knows people will criticise him but he also knows what he is saying is true."

Ronaldo scored 24 times for United last season but has found the net on just three occasions in 16 outings in all competitions this term.
