Cristiano Ronaldo's £1.7m Bugatti Veyron Supercar Crashed By Employee, An Investigation Has Been Launched

Cristiano Ronaldo's £1.7m Bugatti Veyron Supercar Crashed By Employee, An Investigation Has Been Launched

Ronaldo had shipped the supercar to Majorca for his summer holiday.

Police in Majorca have launched an investigation after one of Cristiano Ronaldo's most expensive cars was involved in an accident on the island.

Ronaldo's £1.7m Bugatti Veyron, one of two cars the Manchester United star had shipped to Majorca for his summer holiday, reportedly crashed into a wall in the residential estate of Sa Coma in Bunyola on Monday.

An employee of Ronaldo, rather than the player himself, was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to reports.

The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries during the incident, which took place at around 11am on Monday morning.

Police on the Spanish island have launched an investigation but are yet to release a public statement.

A source told The Sun: "The accident happened on a minor road near Joan March Hospital.

"The car appears to have come off the road and has hit a wall which forms part of the protection to a house with a gas canister deposit behind it.

"An employee of Cristiano's was apparently driving at the time and not Cristiano. He was definitely not at the scene when officers arrived."

Another source added: "The car smashed into a wall but there was only material damage with no-one injured and the driver accepted full responsibility for what happened.

"The information about who was behind the wheel and what occurred is registered on a police database and is there for a court or officers to access if any further investigations need to be conducted.

"But it is more a case of the information needing to be registered so the owner of the property that was damaged can put in a compensation claim and use the police report as a back-up in case there is any dispute down the line about how the damage was done."

Ronaldo, 37, flew into Majorca on June 14 with his five children and wife Georgina Rodriguez.

In addition to the Bugatti Veyron, Ronaldo also had a Mercedes-Benz G-Class – a present from his wife - shipped over from Manchester for the summer holiday.

The vacation is a well-earned break for Ronaldo, who scored 24 goals in 39 games for United last season.

United's squad are due to report back for pre-season training on June 27 as new manager Erik ten Hag begins his reign at Old Trafford.

United will then face rivals Liverpool in their first pre-season friendly on July 12 in Bangkok, Thailand, with their opening game of the Premier League season coming against Brighton at Old Trafford on August 7.
