Jobe Bellingham scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund at the Club World Cup against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday evening, and what he did in the moments after has got fans talking.

Earlier this month, Jobe, 19, signed for Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland for a reported £32m including add-ons, and replicated his brother Jude, who also played for the Bundesliga side before his switch to Real Madrid in 2023.

Then on Tuesday, he made his debut for Nico Kovac’s side in their 0-0 draw against Fluminense at the Club World Cup in the US.

Today (June 21), he made his full debut for Dortmund and started their match against Mamelodi Sundowns in Ohio.

A loose ball found its way towards Jobe, who controlled it on his chest before smashing home a half-volley on 45 minutes.

But it was what he did after scoring that really got fans talking.

In the seconds that followed his goal, Jobe appeared to do his brother’s iconic celebration and stood with his arms outstretched while staring at the crowd.

Fans on social media were quick to give their thoughts.

One said: "Jobe Bellingham wants to be know as himself and not Jude’s brother

"Proceeds to move from Birmingham to Dortmund, score, and do Jude’s celebration. Christ."

Another added: "What a moment for Jobe Bellingham! Scoring his first goal for Dortmund brings back those nostalgic vibes of his brother Jude’s time there. The Bellingham legacy shines on—love that emotional celebration!"

While a third joked: "When we play against Real Madrid and Jobe scores the winning goal and hits the bellingol celebration then what?"

As a fourth commented: "Dude wants to be his brother so bad."

Of course, obvious comparisons have already been made to his older brother due to the fact that they are both midfielders and have both played for Dortmund, but the 19-year-old will, no doubt, want to step out of his brother's shadow with impressive performances this term.

It was widely suggested that he made the decision to use the name 'Jobe' rather than 'Bellingham' on the back of his shirt to set himself apart from his brother.

However, Jobe explained his decision earlier this week when he spoke to One Football.

"When I signed for Sunderland, it was suggested to me by someone, a special coach I had there who I also had in Birmingham," Jobe said. "I was still young and thought it was cool to have my own name on the back. It didn’t have any deeper meaning – but it’s become something unique. It shows that I’m going my own way.

"Some people don’t like it – I don’t care. You can’t follow your goal and listen to everyone at the same time. I only listen to people who know what they’re talking about – not internet critics who just spout nonsense. I just try to get better every day. And my name on my shirt is part of that.”
