Liverpool's insane potential XI if Jeff Bezos completes investment with six new signings identified

A consortium including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, who possesses a net worth of over $30 billion, are reportedly looking to purchase a one-third stake in Liverpool FC, but how would the Reds' line-up look if the deal happens?

Fenway Sports Group, also known as FSG, are the controlling shareholders in Liverpool, but an announcement is reportedly imminent with this consortium looking to purchase a one-third stake.

Bezos, one of the world’s richest men, has never invested in a sports team, while the syndicate’s leader, Amit Bhatia, was recently a shareholder in QPR; he is the son of a steel billionaire and completes the trifecta of extraordinarily wealthy men clamouring for a piece of the Reds’ pie.

According to Sky News, the announcement is set to arrive some time this week — next week being the latest possibility — with Bezos, Bhatia, and Saverin as co-owners of Liverpool FC.

This investment is expected to value the Merseyside club at $6 billion; FSG purchased the club for $300 million from George Gillett and Tom Hicks in 2010.

Bezos’s net worth is an estimated $280 billion. If the deal occurs as expected, how can Liverpool fans expect their side to line up in the coming seasons, as new boss Andoni Iraola looks to steady a sinking ship steered off course by Arne Slot?

What would Liverpool’s line-up look like if Bezos, Saverin and Bhatia complete the deal?

Liverpool’s biggest loss, one of the most seismic in their club’s history, is the departure of veteran winger Mohamed Salah, who left the club as a free agent for Trabzonspor this summer.

The 34-year-old was the most instrumental individual in a Premier League title victory ever in 2024-25, conjuring 47 goal contributions in 38 league games, an English top-flight record.

Liverpool’s transfer business in their Premier League ‘golden era’ under Jurgen Klopp was famously minor, with the German’s 2018-19 side making virtually no additions heading into the 2019-20 season.

After Salah led the Reds to a second title in 2024-25, their summer transfer window was by a stretch the most expensive ever under FSG. The likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike joined for around £300 million, and only the latter impressed in his debut season on Merseyside.

If this deal happens, the first position Liverpool will surely look to improve on, at whatever cost, is their winger options. Rio Ngumoha is too young yet to become a regularly-starting forward, and the likes of new signing Victor Munoz and semi-veteran Cody Gakpo are sorely lacking in firepower.

Isak and Wirtz, with Ekitike likely sidelined until early 2027, will be expected to make up for the loss of Salah’s astonishing output, but even two players will struggle to rack up the numbers the Egyptian provided.

Therefore, a third attacking superstar on the wing is necessary in the now, with the Reds looking likely as it stands to be priced out of the Bradley Barcola deal by PSG’s ludicrously expensive demands. If Bezos and co arrive, that financial barrier will surely become less of an obstacle.

In the centre of the park, certain players must be moved on in the coming seasons. Should Endo fail to be used again, as he often was under Slot, he would be first to go. As would Harvey Elliott, if the 23-year-old fails to make an impact under Iraola.

Throw a seemingly unhappy Curtis Jones in the mix, and a right-back in Jeremie Frimpong who looks all but doomed to fail in red, and those positions also become vacant.

Alisson is approaching the end of his tenure as Liverpool shot-stopper, the greatest in the club’s history, and transfers to slowly phase Virgil Van Dijk out of the team are surely already being considered.

Therefore, Liverpool’s squad by 2028-29 will likely feature two new midfielders, a new winger, centre-back, right-back, and a new goalkeeper.

Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan seems most likely to take Van Dijk’s crown, with rumours circling this summer that the Italian giants are open to selling for a record-breaking fee.

The other vacant positions would be filled by Premier League-proven talents expected to make huge moves in the coming years, with the Reds able to offer the highest fee and an attractive project under heavy metal manager Iraola.
