Lionel Messi has sensationally agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract - and his eye-watering salary details have been revealed, too.

Resuming his long-held status as one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, Messi will complete his shock move to PSG later this week.

Confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 34-year-old has agreed a move to the Parc des Princes and will be arriving in the French capital in the coming hours to complete the move, but how much is his contract worth?

Well, according to various reports, the Ligue 1 giants have offered the Argentine superstar a salary worth around €31.5m a season, which works out as €25m per season after tax. Not too shabby that, eh?

In terms of his contract, Messi will sign a two-year deal - with the option of a third - and across his initial two years, he will earn a staggering €75m, while also bagging a €25m signing bonus.

On the face of it, when looking at his mammoth take home salary, his contract works out at around €481,000 a week, or €68,682 a day or €2,862 per hour or €47.69 per minute or €0.80 per second.

This is all before bonuses and sponsorship and so on, too. So yes, Lionel Messi will continue to earn a very, very decent salary.

Messi's move to PSG will also seen him reunited with Neymar, whom he played alongside at Barcelona for four years, as well as old El Clasico enemy Sergio Ramos.

Considered one of the greatest players of all time, Messi scored a record 672 goals in 778 games for Barca, the club he joined as a 13-year-old.

But Messi was forced out of his beloved Barca last week after a combination of the club's financial difficulties and La Liga's financial fair play rules, meant that a contract could not be finalised.

And at a time where PSG have offered Messi a lucrative two-year deal, Barca are in line to lose serious money following on from the shock departure of their record goalscorer and talisman.

According to Brand Finance, Messi's departure could end up costing the Blaugrana a whopping €137m in brand value - suggesting that maybe some players are bigger than the club after all.
