
Liverpool fans welcomed Manchester City to Anfield with a brutal chant referencing the recent verdict on the 115 charges.
In a nightmare scenario for Manchester City face fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield for their first fixture following the confirmation that the club had been found guilty of the majority of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League in February 2023.
As expected, Liverpool fans were eager to remind both City fans and players about the verdict, with one chant in particular standing out.

Liverpool fans taunt Manchester City with 115 charges chant at Anfield
As one of the clubs most impacted by Manchester City's breaches of the Premier League rules, it's no surprise that Liverpool fans were particularly vocal about their frustration at Anfield.

Had City's results during the period that the charges relate to been wiped, Liverpool would have added another two titles to their tally, in 2018-19 and 2021-22, under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
In light of this, plenty of Liverpool fans arrived at Anfield with various banners and chants slamming City for the 115 charges.
One chant that has since gone viral online, had Liverpool fans singing: "You haven't won a trophy since 1976."
Of course, this chant is referencing the fact that, if none of City's trophies during the period of time in which they breached the Premier League rules counted, the 1976 League Cup would be their last major piece of silverware.
Alongside this chant, Liverpool fans could be heard booing throughout the fixtures while some sang '“Going down, going down' referencing the potential punishments City could face for the guilty verdict.

What punishments could Man City face for 115 charges?
As it stands, it is not known exactly what could happen to Manchester City after they were found guilty of almost all of the Premier League charges.
Currently, City, who maintain that they are completely innocent, are undergoing the appeal process that means we may not hear anymore about the case until early next year.
As per the Premier League rules, the process must be concluded within 12 weeks of the appeal being lodged, meaning the independant panel must deliver its verdict by December 25.
After that, the verdict must be made public within 30 days.
But, with the legal process shutting down for two-weeks for Christmas and New Year, it could mean that the panel will have have until February 8 to announce its verdict.
Should the guilty verdicts be upheld, there are a number of punishment that Manchester City could face, with significant fines, point deductions, transfer bans or even relegation and/or expulsion from the Premier League all believed to be on the table.
