Mike Tyson has revealed the real reason why he fell asleep during a live television interview with Piers Morgan.

And no, it wasn't because he was growing tired of Piers himself, unfortunately.

Iron Mike says painkillers were the main reason for his drowsiness, admitting he took them because he had hurt himself training a few days prior.

Boxing royalty Tyson was chatting to Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan ahead of his comeback bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

But the interview took a turn for the worse when the former heavyweight world champion began slurring his words and becoming incoherent.

At one point during the exchange, Iron Mike slumped over in his chair and appeared to fall asleep.

When the broadcast segment aired on ITV, it instantly went viral and spread like wildfire on social media with viewers wanting to know why he was so out of it.

We know the big man loves to dabble in a bit of marijuana, even owning his own multi-million-dollar weed farm, but it turns out it was something else which KO'd Tyson.

Almost three years on from the incident, he told Piers in a recent interview with Talk TV: "I had hurt myself at that particular time. I was training.

"I received some painkillers from my wife and after I received these painkillers I was just incapable of articulating anything.

"It was just a mess."

To which Morgan replied: "People thought I was so boring as an interviewer that I'd literally driven you to sleep."

But Tyson was happy to take the fall.

"It was my fault, everybody. It was my fault," he said.

Tyson's biblical second coming was a joy to watch and there has been plenty of talk as to who he'll take on next.

But at the ripe old age 56, even he admits his return has become more “financial” rather than “fun”.

“I don’t think I will [fight] either but you never know again. Every 12 to 13 months, boom, something is missing,” he said on the Nelk Boys’ Full Send Podcast earlier this year.

“Like, something is missing. Boom, I’m missing muscle mass, boom, it’s always something different.

“Guys want to fight me for $100 million. I don’t think I’ll ever do stuff like that anymore.

“I wanted to do it the first time, just for fun, to have fun. Some people took it to another level and made it financial and the fun went out of it.”
