Tyson Fury is set to square off with Arslanbek Makhmudov this Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he has explained if his father would be in attendance.
The former two-time world heavyweight champion spoke with Good Morning Britain ahead of his clash with Makhmudov, and the attendance of his father became a topic of discussion.
Fury made it clear that his father did not want to see him come out of retirement again, and so this was an area of frustration for John, and so he explained whether he would be in attendance.
The Gypsy King said: “He might do; he might do; he might do. But he didn’t come to the Usyk II fight, so I’m not holding my breath.

“My dad will do what my dad will do; he’s his own man, and there’s nothing I can do about it. If he turns up, great, and if he doesn’t, also great.”
Fury’s scepticism will be due to the fact that his father showed up to the press conference to announce Tyson’s comeback fight despite his reservations.

As the two-time world heavyweight champion explained: “He’s not happy. He wanted me to retire in 2020 after I beat Deontay Wilder.
“He’s just not happy; he does not want me to box. I suppose any parent wouldn’t want their kid to continue to do something they’ve done from being a little kid all the way to being an adult at the end of their sporting age.
“I think he’s concerned. When it’s your kids, when it’s your close relatives or whatever, I think you feel very concerned for the individual.
“He’s got his opinions and he doesn’t want me to do it – he never has wanted me to do it for the past six years.”
So, Fury may be pleasantly surprised if his father were to make an appearance at the fight on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; however, he will not be holding his breath for John to be in his corner of the ring, as this may seriously impact his chances of beating Makhmudov.
