Ricky Hatton's Son Campbell Makes Heartbreaking Post as Conor McGregor Responds

The former two-weight world champion was found dead at his home in Hyde on September 14.

Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell, has received widespread support from several high-profile figures, including Conor McGregor, after uploading a heartbreaking post to social media.

Former two-weight world champion Hatton was found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on September 14.

The popular Mancunian fighter known as the ‘Hitman’ had a massive fanbase during his peak, with over 30,000 British fans travelling to Las Vegas for his fight against American Floyd Mayweather in 2007.

His other high-profile bouts included a showdown with Manny Pacquiao, which Hatton lost, and arguably his greatest night when he defeated Russian-Australian fighter Kostya Tszyu in Manchester in June 2005.

Hatton’s close friend and manager, Paul Speak, found the boxer and has since opened up about the experience, describing being in a “state of shock” before he alerted emergency services.

Since Hatton’s death, there have been an array of tributes from fans, promoters, and former opponents. There have also been tributes by Manchester City, the club Hatton supported throughout his life, and the Manchester-born band Oasis during one of their Wembley gigs.

But one of the most touching came from his son Campbell.

Campbell, 24, who was also a professional boxer, recently opened up about the devastation his father’s death has caused for him and his family during an emotional interview with ITV News.

The 24-year-old said his family have been left “heartbroken” by the sudden nature of Hatton’s death.

“We are absolutely heartbroken... it was so unexpected,” Campbell said.

"We had so many plans coming up, so it has knocked us for six, but obviously, we are trying to be there for each other.

"The outpouring of support from absolutely everyone has been amazing, so that's helping us through a lot, but yes, [we are] absolutely heartbroken."

Campbell then revealed that his dad used to call him “his little Mini-Me” due to the pair’s close resemblance.

On Monday (October 6), Campbell posted a photograph of himself and his father with the caption “Happy Birthday, wish we was spending it together x”.

Several members of the boxing community liked and commented on the post in a show of support for the 24-year-old, with UFC star McGregor also liking the snap.

Hatton's funeral will be held at midday on October 10 at Manchester Cathedral. The procession will make its way to Harehill Tavern in Hyde before doves are released at The New Inn in Salford.

It will then travel through Hyde, stopping at Hatton’s gym, Hyde Town Hall and the AO Arena before finishing at Manchester Cathedral.
