Floyd Mayweather named the British boxing icon that doesn't get the 'props' he deserves as he hailed the 'unbelievable' talent.

Mayweather enjoyed a legendary professional boxing career.

He went undefeated, racking up a stellar record of 50-0.

The former pound-for-pound king beat the best fighters of his generation, including Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and the late, great Ricky Hatton, who passed away at the age of 46.

Not to mention Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto and Zab Judah.

But one fighter Mayweather failed to get his hands on was 'Prince' Naseem Hamed, who himself had an iconic professional career, reigning as the world featherweight champion at the peak of his powers.

He called out Hamed following his victory over Diego Corrales back in January 2001.

But, considering the American was still a budding prospect and the Brit was towards the end of his career, Hamed vs. Mayweather, unsurprisingly, never came to fruition.

Mayweather, however, holds Hamed in high regard and believes he doesn't get the 'props' he deserves, arguing he is one of the best fighters to come out of the UK.

"It’s so crazy that Prince Naseem Hamed don’t get the props he truly deserves," he told Seconds Out.

Mayweather added: "We still speak on a regular basis... hell of a showman. A lot of the people in the UK forget about him. We need to give him his flowers - unbelievable! One of the best fighters to come from the UK if not the best."

Hamed - affectionately known as Naz - had a fabulous career and, like Mayweather claims, is one of the greatest British boxers in history.

He compiled a stunning record of 36-1 - only losing to Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera.

The Ingle Boxing Gym product captured the WBO world featherweight title against Steve Robinson before bagging the IBF world featherweight title against Tom Johnson.

His crowning achievement was his triumph over American Kevin Kelley in a four-round shootout at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Hamed was known for his freaky power and flamboyant style in and out of the ring.
