Dana White's response goes viral after being asked for Conor McGregor update post-UFC 330

Dana White gave a sharp response after being asked about Conor McGregor’s status following the showdown between Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330.

The UFC CEO appeared confused by a reporter’s question regarding the Irishman, after Islam Makhachev beat Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 in a historic battle.

The Russian won by unanimous decision, securing the first defence of his welterweight title and breaking a long-standing record in the process.

The 34-year-old is now on a 17-win streak in the UFC, a historic total that has surpassed the 16 held by Anderson Silva since 2013.

Makhachev, who is now targeting a 20-fight win streak that he believes will be near unbeatable, was critical of his Irish opponent’s kindness while speaking after the clash.

Those sentiments were echoed by White; Garry will now have to wait until his next fight to surpass McGregor’s record UFC win tally from an Irishman.

The CEO was as unimpressed with Garry’s lack of “killer instinct” as he was at the mention of McGregor’s name, and the question regarding his UFC future, in a clip which has now gone viral.

White gets frustrated with reporter questioning McGregor’s UFC status in viral clip

When asked for 'the latest on the Mac' by a reporter post-fight, White responded plainly: “He’s out for a year.”

The journalist then invoked the recent success of McGregor’s UFC comeback fight, in which the once great champion fell to Max Holloway merely 65 seconds into the fight.

The now 38-year-old blew his knee, ending the fight in speedy, underwhelming fashion, with many fans questioning whether McGregor entered the showdown already injured.

The journalist pressed White about how fast the UFC appeared to move on from the Irishman after that fight, asking: “How do you immediately move on and say, yeah, I’m not concerned about him?"

The CEO was baffled by the approach, and appeared slightly frustrated by the persistent questioning, prompting him to sarcastically mock the reporter.

“Why would I [think about him before next year]? The guy just had surgery,” quizzed White.

“What do you want me to do? Well, maybe in a year from now when he starts. Who the .... knows what the world is going to look like a year from now?” said the CEO, feigning enthusiasm midway through the sentence.

The reporter muttered: “No, that’s true,” as White laughed in agreement, then moved on to take other questions. The clip has since gone viral, with fans theorising that the UFC CEO is tired of having to speak about McGregor.

The Irishman was once the competition’s hottest property, but has been embroiled in legal controversy in recent years and seen his career success, and frequency of fights taken, rapidly plummet.

Whether the now 38-year-old will ever fight again is unclear, but White is certainly not waiting on him to do so with bated breath.

The victor in yesterday’s showdown, Makhachev, has spoken previously about facing McGregor, however, that potential clash would take place in a different fighting format: the boxing ring.
