WWE looked to have made a huge John Cena change for his final hometown appearance on Monday Night Raw.
Cena is quickly approaching the end of his incredible WWE career, with only a further four stops on his retirement tour before he finally hangs up his jorts for good.
The 17-time world champion will wrestle his final match in Washington, D.C on a special episode of Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13 but he has been confirmed to appear on Raw at The Garden in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
It did not appear as though Cena would compete inside the ring but hours before Raw goes live around the world on Netflix, rumours swirled about 'Big Match John' having a surprise match.

According to Bodyslam.net, Cena will challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship - the only title in WWE that he has failed to win.
It was previously though that Cena would look to make history at Survivor Series in his penultimate bout but plans appear to have changed and his Grand Slam opportunity has moved forward.
The reports come amid Cena posting a statement on his social media about an unmissable last appearance in his hometown.
Taking to X, Cena wrote: "RAW. BOSTON. ONE LAST TIME. If you can be @TDGarden tonight… GO. If you’re watching at home… do not miss one moment of it on @netflix. THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE TO SEE!"

Who will be Cena's final opponent?
Last week, Cena made a bombshell announcement when he revealed that his final ever opponent will be decided through a special 'The Last Time is Now' tournament'.
The tournament will feature 16 competitors from Raw, Smackdown, NXT and outside companies, with many already confirmed.
The action kicks off on Monday night with two tournament matches, with Sheamus and Shinsuke Nakamura squaring off and Damian Priest and Rusev also locking horns.
The Miz and Jey Uso will also meet in an opening round match on a date yet to be confirmed, while LA Knight is poised to face a surprise opponent.
The full list of wrestlers is yet to be released but it is widely expected that Cena's last ever match in WWE will come up against former world champion Gunther at the Capital One Arena.
On his retirement tour, which kicked off in January at the Royal Rumble, Cena faced Cody Rhodes twice, as well as mixing it up with the likes of Randy Orton, R-Truth, CM Punk, Logan Paul, Sami Zayn, Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles.
