John Cena could be about to face one of his most highly-requested final WWE opponents in a shock move - despite him currently being signed to another company.
WWE announced earlier this week that Cena would take on AJ Styles at Crown Jewel: Perth next month - one of his five final appearances as a in-ring competitor before retirement.
His 2025 retirement tour has seen him win the Undisputed WWE Championship, turn heel, turn face again, and take on the likes of Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Randy Orton and Sami Zayn.

Cena lost to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza last Sunday in an eight-minute match which received heavily mixed reviews from fans.
Time is now running out for the 17-time world champion to compete in some dream matches - but one former rival that nobody expected him to face may suddenly become available.
Edge wrestled for WWE between 1996 and 2011, and then again from 2020 to 2023 after recovering from what was thought to be a career-ending neck injury, winning 11 world titles.
He had several legendary feuds with Cena, and was near the top of many fans' lists in terms of ideal opponents for Cena's final run.
But Edge signed for AEW in 2023, shortly after his WWE departure, and has been competing there under the ring name of Cope and his real name Adam Copeland ever since.
Earlier this week, Cena posted an old image of Edge wearing the WWE Championship to his Instagram account.

His account never posts captions alongside images, leaving fans to work out what he means.
And during the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, Copeland told his close friend Christian that he would be leaving the company - and didn't know whether he would return.
It is unclear whether his words are part of a storyline, with the 51-year-old having been hit with a Piledriver - a move rarely used in WWE as it puts pressure on the neck - during AEW All Out.

But speaking to Chris van Vliet last year, Edge confirmed that his AEW contract was due to expire at some point in 2025.
He indicated that he would retire after that deal was up - but it remains to be seen whether he will be tempted by a retirement match against Cena in WWE.
