WWE fans are split on social media after a major realisation about wrestling legend John Cena.

The 48-year-old is regarded as the greatest professional wrestler in history, but in July 2024, he announced that he will retire from the sport at the end of 2025.

It has led to this being labelled Cena's farewell tour, as one of wrestling's most iconic figures prepares to say goodbye to the ring.

But many fans are only now realising that we are already halfway through the farewell tour, with Cena's last match scheduled for December 2025.

And on X, not everyone was happy with how it has gone so far.

@AJStavole said: "So far this heel turns been better," with an accompanying wrestling-themed Gif.

@xAlexTHFC added: "A truly truly terrible run so far.

"Hopefully it can get fixed somehow."

But some wrestling fans were more positive about the farewell tour so far and believe there are still plenty of good moments still to come.

@BishupH wrote: "And I’ve never been more invested."

@DYLANDAFTDOOM added: "And it’s finally picking up steam."

What has happened so far on the farewell tour?

Cena has already competed in several major events in 2025.

At the Royal Rumble on 1 February, he was defeated by the eventual winner Jey Uso.

But a month later he competed at the Elimination Chamber in Toronto, which he won. It meant he tied Triple H's record for the most Elimination Chamber victories with four.

This also set up an Undisputed WWE Championship match with Cody Rhodes, which Cena won to secure a record-extending 17th world title.

A month later, he controversially defeated Randy Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

In the match he caught Orton with a low blow, before knocking him down with the belt in a game which was very tactical.

At the post-match press conference, Cena interrupted Triple H to offer his thoughts to the media.

He said: "I need to be better with you guys.

"I need to begin to walk the talk and if I am the last real champion, and if I'm the greatest of all time, in this little time I have left I shouldn't patronise the people who help the reach of what we do.

"I should be more accepting and empathetic. In the past, I have not chosen to field any questions because I couldn't get out of my own way."

In remarkable scenes at Blacklash 2025, Cena was interrupted by R-Truth, which Cena responded to by throwing him over the table.

Despite the drama, not all fans have been impressed with his retirement tour so far.
