To some, John Cena is more known for his acting roles rather than wrestling. After all, Cena has appeared in a number of Hollywood blockbusters, including Suicide Squad, the Fast and Furious series, and Bumblebee.
As such, Cena’s appearances in WWE have become more sporadic in recent years as 'Father Time' catches up on the iconic wrestler and he continues to build up his acting career.
Even so, Cena is one of the greatest performers in the history of the industry, ranking alongside the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H as modern-day stars.
So, it came as a shock last year when Cena announced at the Money in the Bank event in Toronto that he’d be calling time on his wrestling career at some point in 2025.

“I have been doing this a while, I've been in WWE for over two decades," Cena said at the event in July last year
“And in that time I've seen incredible waves of prosperity like we've got right now. WWE is the hottest ticket in town, no doubt. And I've also seen tremendous hardship.
“That's when no-one knows your name, nobody wants to be a friend and only the most dedicated, hardcore fans stand by your side.
“In all those years, one of the most important, impressive things that I learned was whether the WWE was hot or cold, Canadians always show up.”

Since then, Cena turned heel for the first time in 22 years at Elimination Chamber back in March when he attacked Cody Rhodes in what was one of the most shocking moments in WWE history.
While no definitive date has been set, it had been rumoured that Cena’s final appearance in WWE would come at Saturday Night’s Main Event in early December.
However, it’s since been suggested that the final date will come closer to the end of the calendar year as the WWE get their money’s worth from Brand Cena.

“Originally, the final John Cena match was gonna be in early December at Saturday Night's Main Event,” WrestleTalk posted on their official X account.
That, though, has reportedly been pushed back to coincide with AEW Worlds End, with WrestleTalk, quoting Bryan Alvarez, adding: “This is not confirmed, but it does look like there is now a discussion that that date will be moved so it will be head-to-head with AEW Worlds End.”
Worlds End is a pay-per-view event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and was established in 2023.

A number of former WWE stars feature on the AEW roster, including Paul ‘Big Show’ Wright, Billy Gunn, Chris Jericho, Christian Cage and Cope, who is best known for his time in WWE as Edge.
World Wrestling Entertainment, perhaps feeling threatened by the emergence of AEW, are hoping that Cena’s final event will draw viewers away from Worlds End.
