Three Manchester United stars not present at training as two youngsters step in before Europa League fixture

Three Manchester United players did not attend Wednesday morning's group training session ahead of the FC Sheriff Europa League fixture.

Manchester United are set to play FC Sheriff in the second round of Europa League matches this season on Thursday evening.

This match is surrounded by multiple called-off fixtures in the Premier League due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

It has been reported this morning that none of Marcus Rashford, Donny van de Beek or Aaron Wan-Bissaka attended training this morning.

Marcus Rashford has been a standout player for United so far this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his last four Premier League fixtures.

He was the catalyst for a stunning win over Arsenal almost two weeks ago, and has been getting back to his very best so far under Erik ten Hag.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has however fallen down the pecking order at right-back, with Diogo Dalot firmly securing his place as the starting player in that position and putting in some excellent performances.

Donny van de Beek is yet to feature this season, for multiple reasons. He is currently below both Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen in the midfield spots, and also recently sustained an injury which he is yet to recover from.

One youngster who recently made his debut for Manchester United and became the first Carrington youngster to be handed a debut by Ten Hag is Charlie McNeill.

He came on as a substitute against Real Sociedad, and was involved in training with the first team squad this morning.

Marc Jurado also featured in training, with the young right-back likely in the squad to cover for the loss of Wan-Bissaka as back up for Dalot.

Manchester United are set to take on FC Sheriff on Thursday evening, with Ten Hag expected to field a strong team due to the current lack of Premier League football.
