Jon Jones Responds To Stipe Miocic's UFC 252 Win Over Daniel Cormier
Jon Jones threw down the challenge to Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title, just minutes after the champion beat Daniel Cormier at UFC 252.
Miocic wrote his name in the UFC history books as the heavyweight GOAT after beating long time rival Cormier in a unanimous decision.
However there might not be long for the two time champion to celebrate as light heavyweight Jones announced his intention to fight for the heavyweight title, tweeting just moments after Miocic was announced as the winner.
Heavyweight world championships I will be seeing you real soon. Victorious- BONY (@JonnyBones) August 16, 2020
In typical 'Bones' fashion, he couldn't just leave it as a challenge as he went on to suggest that the heavyweights weren't looking too big for him.
On top of that the 33-year-old also suggested that all he had to do was 'avoid Stipe's right hand' and then he would be considered the 'baddest man on the planet,' instead of the heavyweight title holder.
This is exciting for me- BONY (@JonnyBones) August 16, 2020
For some reason these heavyweights don't seem so big to me tonight- BONY (@JonnyBones) August 16, 2020
Avoid Stipe's right hand, I'm too fast, I'll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy. Soon and very soon I'll be considered the baddest man on this planet- BONY (@JonnyBones) August 16, 2020
In the past Jones has been linked with a move up to heavyweight on a couple of occasions, considering he's dominated his own division to such an extent.
There were talks previously that he could follow former two time opponent Cormier up in weight and fight his own third fight against the former heavyweight champion.
Earlier this year he entered into a rivalry on social media with the big hitting, former heavyweight champion contender, Francis Ngannou.
The lack of talks with UFC, or at least the lack of a rise in money for Bones, led to the man considered the best UFC fighter of all time and the company's president Dana White having a public spat.
Will Jones finally move up to compete for the heavyweight title?
