UFC 251 brought in a massive 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, the promotion's biggest show since Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

A welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal topped UFC's debut 'Fight Island' card and the event was a huge success.

UFC 251 reportedly generated 900,000 PPV buys in the United States and totalled 1.3 million when including international sales.

Usman vs. Masvidal has shot up to No.6 on the all-time PPV list, tied with UFC 205 - headlined by Eddie Alvarez vs. McGregor.

Further reports suggest the Yas Island show secured $77,988,000 million (£62.3 million) in television revenue.

Masvidal was unable to complete his resurrection after losing a decision to Usman who defended his title in dominant fashion.

'Gamebred' took to social media after UFC 251 PPV buys surfaced online.

On Twitter, he wrote: "The overwhelming amount of support I have received before, during, and after this journey has been humbling. Still got a lot of goals to meet. All of you that tuned in to see me win, thank you. Those that tuned in to see me lose, thank you."

He added: "I want to thank God for allowing me to be able to provide for my family during a time of crisis and the best is yet to come #theresurrection."

UFC 251 proved that Masvidal is now one of the biggest draws in the sport, but he has a long way to go to beat UFC 229 PPV numbers.

Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor brought in a record breaking 2.4 million PPV buys back in October 2018.
