And he looks in great shape as he eyes a big welterweight fight.
The 37-year-old has been put through his paces by his coaches with photographer Scott Hirano recently taking pictures of the Stockton veteran in the gym.
He was snapped putting in work alongside younger brother Nate, who's also set to compete again after his hiatus.

Nick hasn't fought since his no-contest against Anderson Silva at UFC 183 in January 2015.
He hasn't won an MMA fight since his decision victory over BJ Penn at UFC 137 in January 2011.
Darren Till, Leon Edwards, Stephen Thompson and Khamzat Chimaev all want a piece of the former Strikeforce champion.
InshAllah if I will defeat my next opponent Dana White @danawhite please I can fight Maia , Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz back to back same night or every week . Easiest money welterweight division

Ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley could also be a potential opponent and he thinks Nick deserves a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame.
"If he comes back to the sport, I think it will be good to have another household name back in the sport competing," he explained.
"But if he doesn't, he doesn't. I think he's done enough in his career, in my opinion, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
"I think (he deserves it), because he was one of the original bad boys."
'The Chosen One' added: "There's some people in the Hall of Fame that had never won a world title, whether it's just a fight, there's so many different categories of it.
"But when you think about it, he came over from Strikeforce, he had a crazy reputation then, and I think you've got to take some of that into account when you're thinking about a Hall of Fame inductee.
"They bought the organization, they bought the rights to all those fights, so I think the accolades have to come with that."
