Travis Kelce has addressed the injury he caused to Xavier Worthy amid a viral, and bizarre, Taylor Swift theory about why the incident happened.
The Kansas City Chiefs started the new NFL season in disappointing fashion, as they fell to a 27-21 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.
As well as suffering a defeat in Brazil, the Chiefs were dealt another blow when Worthy went down with a shoulder injury after he collided with star tight end Kelce on a crosser route. Worthy left the field and did not return to action again in Sao Paulo, leaving fans concerned on when he will return for the Chiefs.
Although it was clearly an accidental collision between the teammates, some social media users speculated online that Swift's recent comments about Worthy may have influenced Kelce and made him take out his teammate.

On the New Heights podcast in August, the music star revealed how she became an NFL fan and her excitement when Worthy joined the Chiefs in 2024.
Swift said: "I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it.
"I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!'.

And my friends are like, 'Who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?'"
The bizarre claim among fans was that Kelce didn't like Swift's attention on Worthy and took action. Hmm, we're not sure.
Following the collision that took Worthy out of the Week 1 game, Kelce spoke openly about the in-game incident.

Kelce said: "I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy. So, it’s frustrating for me.
"I was trying to kind of set up my guy to be able to get into position, and it all just happened pretty quick.
"I just gotta be better, man. I’m 13 years in the league. There is no excuse for me running into my own guys like that."
Kelce's explanation helped put the wild online speculation to bed, as he took full responsibility for the collision. For the Chiefs however, there is work to do if they are to make a fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance next year.

Central to those hopes will be the legendary quarterback Patrick Mahomes, although he was outshone by the Chargers' Justin Herbert in Brazil.
While Herbert threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns, Mahomes could only manage 258 yards and one touchdown.
With the season still in its infancy, head coach Andy Reid was not concerned, but emphasised that there are things they need to improve upon.
The Chiefs return to action on Sunday in a repeat of last year's Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.
