Taylor Swift breaks down in tears on Travis Kelce podcast as NFL star makes emotional admission

Taylor Swift cut an emotional figure during her appearance on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast.

Swift, 35, and Kansas City Chiefs star Kelce, also 35, have been dating since 2023 and are currently one of the most spoken about couples on the planet.

The pair appeared alongside each other in a special episode of Kelce’s ‘New Heights’ podcast to promote Swift’s twelfth album 'The Life of a Showgirl', which will be released on October 3.

To the surprise of many, Swift became emotional when discussing the battle to reclaim her master recordings before being comforted by Kelce.

As reported by BBC News, Swift bought back rights to her first six albums in May, ending a battle over the ownership of her music.

The dispute started in June 2019, when music manager Scooter Braun bought Swift's former record label Big Machine and all of the songs from Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation.

Swift was reportedly not happy with the deal. The owner of master records controls the way music is distributed and licensed.

Braun eventually sold them to Shamrock Capital before they were returned to Swift.

The 35-year-old singer detailed exactly how she felt when she learned she had regained the rights.

"I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade," Swift said.

"A couple months after the Super Bowl, I was in Kansas City.

"I get a call from my mom. She’s like, 'You got your music.' I very dramatically hit the floor for real. Bawling my eyes out, weeping, like 'Really?' I said to myself, 'Go tell Travis in a normal way.'

“He was playing video games, and he put his headset down. I was like, 'I got my music back!' And I was heaving, crying. This changed my life.”

Swift added: “After the Eras Tour, I had a meeting with my team, and we decided this might be a good time to approach the current owners.

“The owners of it was a private equity firm called Shamrock Capital. I knew them to be aboveboard people - they had been very friendly to us.

“What I was looking to do, though, was I wanted to buy my music outright. I don't want to be in a partnership; I don't want to own 30% of it. I want to own all of it. But it was a long shot to think they would do that.”

Kelce also admitted that he cried when he was made aware.
