Steph Curry's response when interviewer asked him what his net worth is speaks volumes

Curry is the highest-paid player in the NBA

Two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry has amassed a fortune from his career but his response to a question about his net worth said a lot about his character.

Curry has been the best-paid player in basketball since 2017 and is set to remain so until Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid takes over the title in the 2027-28 NBA season.

The Golden State Warriors point guard is the NBA's third-highest career earner, with only LeBron James and Kevin Durant pocketing more.

The subject of money came up in a recent interview with Complex, during which interviewer Speedy Morman put Curry on the spot.

"You got your hand in a bunch of different business pots but this is a question I ask everybody. A quick Google search says that your net worth is $240 million. Is that accurate?" asked Morman.

Curry's response was coy.

"I don't know," said a hesitant four-time NBA champion. "I don't really care."

Pressed by the interviewer, Curry continued to keep his counsel.

"To be honest, that's not something I really worry about too much," he said. "I got somebody that takes care of that for me. But... what I have going on is about creating like a portfolio of stuff that is aspirational in terms of wealth."

While the admission that wealth is an end to go with the means, Curry answered Morman's questions with the focused deflection of a rich sportsperson whose priority is his sport.

Like all of basketball's highest-earning greats, Curry has sought to grow his sporting fortune with a series of business and creative interests.

Curry, 37, has been involved in sportswear endorsement, brand marketing and consumer technology as well as an ill-fated foray into cryptocurrency as an ambassador for the high-profile and now-bankrupt crytocurrency exchange FTX.

He's also put his financial clout into charitable work and philanthropy and will be able to do plenty more of it if his net worth is anything like the figure mentioned by Morman.

Curry has been playing for Golden State since he was drafted as a first-round pick in 2009.

His four championship wins have all come in the last 11 years and he's an 11-time NBA All-Star.

He was named Finals MVP when the Warriors defeated Boston Celtics in six games to claim their most recent championship in 2022.
