Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry has issued a clear response when asked about the prospect of playing with LeBron James next season.
James announced his exit from the LA Lakers in June after eight years, and instead of considering retirement, the 41-year-old has ambitions of winning his fifth NBA championship.
"LeBron knows the Lakers are building for the future, and he also wants to compete for championships," his agent, Rich Paul, said after his exit was confirmed.
"We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count," he added.

James, who holds the record for most career points, most minutes played, and most All-Star appearances in NBA history, has been inundated with proposals from several teams since confirming his desire to leave the Lakers.
The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggets have all emerged as possible contenders to land him.
Recent reports even suggested that James was taking a pitch from the Philadelphia 76ers 'very seriously', with Jaylen Brown's blockbuster switch to the 76ers piquing the veteran's interest.
Golden State have also stood out as a particularly intriguing destination after James' incredible run with Steph Curry at the 2024 Olympics.
And when appearing at the annual celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe in Nevada, Curry was asked for the first time about potentially playing alongside James next season.

"I’d say more so I’m interested to just play golf with LeBron. We’ll handle the basketball stuff, but I want to see the golf LeBron free agent. He’s out here really grinding on the game. But I’m sure we obviously would love to play together. I mean, hopefully it happens. But he’s deserved the opportunity and the right to take his time with the decision," Curry said.
Golden State Warriors not confident of signing LeBron James
It doesn't come as a surprise that Curry, a four-time NBA champion, would welcome the addition of an all-time talent to the roster.
But while his public endorsement of the NBA legend is meaningful, there are already suggestions it could be an uphill battle for Golden State to land James.
According to reports, capturing the legendary James depends on their ability to trade for Anthony Davis from the Washington Wizards, although those talks have yet to gain traction.
"I think LeBron's been open-minded, but the Warriors' whole plan going into free agency was, 'Okay, let's see if we can get Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis,'" ESPN's Shams Charania said on Stephen A. Smith's radio show.
"I think the big draw for LeBron with the Warriors would be seeing if there's an avenue to be a package deal with Davis," added Charania. "Short of that, I don't think the Warriors are high on his list, and I think the Warriors themselves believe they're not on that list unless they're able to trade for Anthony Davis."
The 2026/27 NBA season begins in October, and by then, James will have his next club confirmed.
