Steph Curry could surpass Michael Jordan record as revealing comment reignites NBA GOAT debate

Steph Curry is currently on four NBA championships, but he could possibly win more with the Golden State Warriors.

Steph Curry could be on his way to surpassing Michael Jordan after recent comments from his father reignited the famous greatest of all time debate.

37-year-old Curry has four championship wins to his name and is one of the best three-point shooters in the history of the NBA. Having been with the Golden State Warriors ever since the team drafted him in 2009, he has reiterated his desire of ending his career with the same team.

Last year, the Warriors had a good start to the season, but lost their way in the middle of the campaign. However, they traded for Jimmy Butler and from there on Curry and company put together a sensational run after the All-Star break to make it to the NBA playoffs.

They made it past the first round with the four-time champion averaging 22 points against the Houston Rockets but the team lost in the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite the disappointment, one thing is clear that Curry still has a lot of basketball left in him and recent comments from his father suggest that the NBA community could see the two-time MVP for a few more years.

This definitely would help him add to his resume, further helping him in the GOAT debate which already has names like Jordan and LeBron James involved in it.

Speaking in an interview with PFSNA, his father Dell Curry said: "I think it'll be his decision when to walk away. A lot of guys play until the teams or the league tell you, 'We can't use your services anymore'.

"I think he could be well into his 40s because he can shoot the ball and requires that you have to guard him. That'll create space for other players on the floor. So, I think that decision will be totally up to him."

Curry is still one of the most competitive players and his father believes although there are not a lot of years left, while he is playing Curry will always have 'competitive juices.'

Can Steph Curry catch Michael Jordan's ring record?

Curry is currently on four championships, which puts him two behind Jordan, who won six in his time with the Chicago Bulls.

Michael Jordan is regarded by many as one of the greatest in the game, but Curry could be on his way there if he adds a few more championships.

While the league is at its very best in terms of talent, Curry's Warriors team will always be one of the contenders with him on the roster.

Last season, they proved that they have the players it takes to win, but fell short due to an injury to Curry in the second round.

The team will be going into the offseason looking to make a few free agent acquisitions to bolster the roster.

If they are able to successfully add some depth in the center spot and bring in a few more talented free agents, the Warriors can certainly compete for championships.

This would help Curry in the GOAT debate as he has all the laurels needed and winning a few more rings would only add to his case.
