Michael Jordan left Steph Curry speechless when giving the coldest response to why he 'respects' losing

Jordan didn't lose often in his career - but those losses proved to be very important.

Michael Jordan left fellow NBA legend Steph Curry almost speechless after explaining exactly why he 'respects' losing.

Jordan didn't experience losing all that often during his professional career, winning six NBA Championship and being named in the All-Star Team on 14 occasions.

He's had huge amounts of success post-retirement, becoming the first professional athlete to be named on the Forbes 400 rich list.

The same outlet calculates his current net worth as $3.5 billion, accumulated through his career earnings, his Nike brand deal and various sports investments.

But Jordan has experienced what it feels like to be on the losing side plenty of times, with his teams losing seven of 37 NBA Play-Offs matches.

In an interview with Curry - who has won four NBA Championships with the Golden State Warriors - Jordan explained why he felt losing was necessary in order to win during his career.

He stated: "I hate losing, it's not even a question. But I respect losing. Because losing is a part of winning. You never just win, you gotta lose to win.

"Does it mean as much to us as it does to them? And if that's the case, losing is going to hurt, you know, to a point where you would look at, 'How can I do things differently? How can I change, how can I make this team better?'

"And that's the thing about a team. You know this too. It's that, before you can look at someone else, you've got to look at yourself in the mirror. Because that's how things get started.

"You've got to be willing to change. You've got to have a sense of pride about yourself. It's not about the money, it's not about anything. It's more about the prize. And the best players, whoever's playing the best is going to win."
