Conor McGregor has sent Dana White a gift as talks over a sensational UFC comeback intensifies.

McGregor hasn't fought since his crushing TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

He was scheduled to return to the famed Octagon last summer when he was matched against Michael Chandler.

A UFC return, however, has been mooted and it appears a meeting has been pencilled in between McGregor and White.

The UFC CEO took to social media to show off a gift from McGregor, accompanied with the caption: "Thank you. See you in Italy."

It's unclear what the present is, but it looks like a special edition item.

When is Conor McGregor returning to the UFC?

It's been over four years since McGregor last competed in the UFC.

But after Donald Trump teased an event at the White House, McGregor revealed he is back in the drug testing pool and is hellbent on landing on the card in what is shaping up to be a blockbuster event.

"They’re testing me," the Irishman told The Schmo.

"I’m in the pool. I thought that’s what the pools were for, jumping in and out, but I’m back in the pool. So get ready and stay ready because damage will be done. Oval office. White House card."

What has Dana White said about Conor McGregor returning to the UFC?

The proposed meeting between White and McGregor in Italy will be their first catch-up for some time.

That's judging by the 55-year-old's comments last May.

He said he hadn't spoken to McGregor 'in a minute' and claimed he's 'not fighting anytime soon'.

"He’s not fighting anytime soon," White said. "I haven’t talked to him in a minute, but yeah, I don’t know."

The UFC's White House plans seem to have changed everyone's thinking.

When is the UFC White House event?

The UFC White House show promises to be one of the biggest events in the promotion's storied history.

The card, which will take place in Washington, is slated for the weekend of July 4, 2026, which will mark America's 250th anniversary celebrations.

Speaking at a rally in Iowa, Trump said UFC boss White will build the event and it will feature a 'championship fight'.

The US president said: "We're going to have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. Dana's going to do it."
