F1 race stewards have made a decision which has altered the result of the Monaco Grand Prix five days on from the race – and one driver has lost his spot on the podium.
On Sunday (June 7), Mercedes driver and championship leader Kimi Antonelli won his fifth consecutive Grand Prix, putting him 66 points clear of second-placed Lewis Hamilton, with the Ferrari veteran finishing second in Monaco.
Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar completed the podium, finishing third ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in fourth, but the Frenchman has since learned that he has missed out on the podium due to Pierre Gasly’s podium being reinstated after Alpine’s right of review request was successful.
Piastri and Racing Bulls duo Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have also dropped a place.

Despite starting ninth on the grid, Gasly managed to improve to fourth before being promoted to third as a result of Mercedes’ George Russell receiving a late drive-through penalty.

However, Gasly was penalised for twice speeding in the pit lane, meaning he received two five-second time penalties. The ruling meant the Alpine driver was demoted to seventh place.
“Right now, I’m just heartbroken,” Gasly said after the decision. “I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to be speaking right now.
“We all work so hard to get these moments, and then when it gets taken away from you for some things which we need to review… The team set the right speed limiter, and I put it on well before the line both times.
“I crossed the line in P3 in Monaco in front of all the fans and all the people here, and in the end we get penalised and finish far away. I don’t really know what to say.”
However, Alpine have successfully appealed the pit-lane speeding penalty, meaning their driver has been reinstated to third place after a ‘right of review’ hearing.
Race stewards accepted that Gasly never exceeded the 60km/h speed limit.
The stewards' verdict read: "Following the acceptance of the petition, the finding of its admissibility... the Stewards' sole task is to determine if Car 10 [Gasly] exceeded the speed limit of 60 km/h in the pit lane.
"We determine that it did not."
Meanwhile, Alpine released the following statement: “We welcome the decision made by the FIA to deem our Right of Review admissible following the final classification of last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
“As a result, the Stewards have rescinded the two five-second penalties imposed on Car #10, which reinstates the team’s third-place finish.
“We would like to thank the FIA and Formula One Management for their transparency and co-operation throughout the Right of Review process and for reaching this decision.
“The team’s focus is now very much on this weekend’s Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and striving for the best possible result with both of its cars.”
F1 returns this weekend, with the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix taking place on June 14.

Pierre Gasly reacts to successful right of review
Shortly after learning his podium had been reinstated, Gasly told Sky Sports: "I'm extremely happy for the whole team, very proud of the whole team for the way they got that result.
"Sunday night I felt very low. A lot of mixed emotions - proud of the performance, extremely sad about the whole decision and situation, some injustice in that situation.
"And I wasn't sure how things would move forward. The team did an amazing job. I'm very proud of F1 and the FIA for the transparency and everyone recognising their responsibilities in that situation.
"We all know that with everything at stake, we look at World Championships in all different sports, we know how complicated things can be. Today, it's a massive step forward for our sport."
Gasly has finished on the podium six times during his career with his latest moving him up to eighth in the championship.
