Former USWNT forward Megan Rapinoe has criticised President Donald Trump's administration and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the death of Renee Nicole Good.
On the morning of January 7, Renee Nicole Good, 37, was fatally shot by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Federal officials claimed Good had tried to run over immigration agents with her car and that the officer had been acting in self-defence. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey, meanwhile, called the federal government's self-defense claim “b******.”
The Trump administration also described the victim as a "domestic terrorist", alleging that Good attempted to "weaponise" her vehicle to attack federal agents carrying out raids in the area.

Vice President JD Vance defended Ross' actions, claiming: "The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self-defence."

A host of high-profile figures have spoken out on the incident, including Megan Rapinoe, who discussed the situation on her A Touch More podcast with former basketball player Sue Bird.
"I think this has been abnormal for the entire time the Trump administration has been conducting these raids and disappearing people," said Rapinoe.

"They’re knocking people’s phones out of their hands. It’s lawful to do that. They’re basically intimidating and threatening people not to protest and not to track what they’re doing, and that’s a lot of what was happening in Minneapolis.
"The community coming out, keeping their eyes on ICE - where are they, trying to stamp their people, impeding them in what feels (like) a very unlawful way of doing these immigration raids.
"It’s just really sad. Obviously, our heart goes out to Renee Good’s family and her community and all the people that love her and support her."
She added: "This is so outside the norm and outside of what’s OK, and I think everybody’s seen that, and I hope that the proverbial people will stand up whenever that is and whatever way that is — whether it’s midterms or elections or out in the streets to say this is not what we want, not what we think is acceptable."
Rapinoe criticised the Trump administration's reaction to the incident. "They came out and immediately had a verdict on what happened without any investigation, without anything happening," she said.

"It’s the classic Orwell — the last command they told you was not to believe what your eyes are seeing, or something to that effect."
