Tottenham hold talks with Will Still about possibility of becoming their new manager

Will Still has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Ligue 1 side Reims.

Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici has held discussions with Will Still about the possibility of taking the vacant Spurs job, according to reports.

Still, 30, has led Ligue 1 club Reims to an unprecedented 21-game unbeaten streak this season – a record that featured wins over Monaco, Nantes and Auxerre, as well as two draws against Paris Saint-Germain.

He is quickly establishing himself as one of the best young managers in world football, which is remarkable considering his background.

As a teenager, Still coached Preston North End U14's as part of his applied football coaching degree at Myerscough College.

Then, after earning his degree at 18, he would go back to live with his parents in Belgium, where he would soon ask Yannick Ferrera, the manager of Belgian second division side Sint-Truiden, if there were any jobs going.

Still was eager to learn and pick up some valuable experience. "I asked if there was any way I could be useful to you," he told SPORTbible in an interview last year.

"I didn't want any money. I didn't want a contract or anything. I just wanted to help."

Still went on: "He looked at me and said, 'Can you film a game?' I said yeah, I can film a game. 'Can you cut video?' I said yeah, I can do that."

Sint-Truiden's first league game of the season was against R.E. Virton, so the teenager travelled hundreds of miles across Belgium and Holland to film all three of their remaining friendly games.

His task was to not only record those games but to give his analysis and opinion on the team.

With a basic report in hand that detailed the identity and playing style of their upcoming opponents, Still handed it over to Ferrera, who was impressed. He was soon named the club's video analyst.

In the coming years, Still would become the youngest manager in Belgian First Division history at Beerschot before enjoying spells at Standard Liege and Reims as their assistant.

Then, after Oscar Garcia was sacked as Reims manager in October last year, Still was asked to take over at the Ligue 1 side.

He has helped unlock the talents of Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun, who has scored 18 goals in 30 appearances for the French outfit this season.

And as a result of his impressive reign at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, Still has engaged in talks with Tottenham's sporting director Fabio Paratici about taking the job in North London.

That's according to Italian reporter Gianluigi Longari, who says a meeting between Still and Paratici took place in Switzerland, with the Anglo-Belgian manager being seen as a candidate for the Spurs head coach role next season.
