Liverpool have reportedly decided upon their next transfer target after hijacking Newcastle United's pursuit of Spain winger Victor Munoz.
Despite the Osasuna winger being heavily linked with Newcastle, reports emerged on Wednesday, June 17, suggesting Liverpool are set to sign the 22-year-old after triggering his €40 million (£34.6 million) release clause.
The winger, who can play on both flanks and is currently part of Spain's World Cup squad, is expected to put pen to paper on a six-year deal at Liverpool, with the club's staff currently in the US to conduct his medical.
Munoz registered seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances for Osasuna last term, helping the side finish 17th in La Liga.

The 22-year-old played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid at youth level before going on to make two appearances for Los Blancos at senior level.
Munoz will become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era, with the Reds now set to turn their attention to the ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast left winger Yan Diomande.

Diomande has been the subject of interest from Liverpool for some time, while Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the 19-year-old.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed Liverpool want to add at least one more winger this summer despite the Munoz deal nearing its completion.
He said: "Also, important to mention, many Liverpool fans have been asking me after I dropped this bomba on my channels if this means the deal closes the door to signing another winger. So, the winger wanted by Liverpool was Victor Munoz.
"My answer is no. My answer is that, in the plan of Richard Hughes, they are doing an excellent job. Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are planning their signings and keeping things secret until we have the exclusive bomba like today.
"But they are working behind the scenes also to add at least one more winger to the squad.
"So, Victor Munoz for sure was seen as a super talent, with big potential, an opportunity on the market, with a release clause, so quite a fast deal to do, and Liverpool decided to enter.
"But also don't forget the salary. Victor Munoz is on a very small salary at Osasuna, so obviously, financially it was an easy opportunity to close as soon as possible for the Reds.
"But then the idea for Liverpool is to add one more player to the squad, to add one more winger to the squad."
Liverpool keen on PSG star
The Italian then reiterated that Liverpool also remain interested in PSG winger Bradley Barcola, with Arsenal also admirers of the Frenchman who netted in Les Bleus’ World Cup opener against Senegal earlier this week.
Romano added: "There can't be only one name for Liverpool.
"Victor Munoz is on one side, Diomande is one of the options who remains on the list.
"I would still mention a name that I have been mentioning for the last few months regarding Liverpool, and it's a name I want to keep there.
"It's not something new because, if you follow the channel, you know I am always mentioning him, but Bradley Barcola remains a player appreciated by Liverpool.
"So, we should not forget about Barcola, who is also appreciated by Arsenal, but the priority for Arsenal remains Morgan Rogers.
"So, Arsenal want to sign Morgan Rogers, and Arsenal will go all in for Morgan Rogers. That's the expectation.
"Barcola is still on the shortlist, but nothing is imminent.
"On the other side, for Liverpool, Barcola remains a name to follow.
"We will see what happens with Diomande, but for sure, Liverpool will do more in terms of wingers in the market."
Barcola is contracted to PSG until 2028 while Diomande's RB Leipzig deal runs until 2030.
