One of Marc Cucurella’s now-former Chelsea teammates appeared to make his feelings clear on the Spaniard’s transfer to Real Madrid.
Cucurella has joined Real Madrid on a six-year deal after the club agreed a £51.8 million fee, bringing the Spain international’s four-year spell at Stamford Bridge to an end.
The deal is made up of a guaranteed £47.5 million plus £4.3 million in potential add-ons.
The left-back is currently preparing for Spain’s World Cup opener against Cape Verde, with the Group H clash taking place in Atlanta later today (June 15).

Cucurella is the latest arrival during a summer of transition at the Santiago Bernabéu, with José Mourinho recently announced as Los Blancos’ new head coach, while the La Liga giants are also targeting the signings of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, Inter right-back Denzel Dumfries and former Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
Cucurella was one of the senior players in Chelsea’s dressing room, with the full-back helping the side win the Conference League and Club World Cup in 2025.
And it appears Chelsea could soon lose another key player, with Enzo Fernández consistently linked with a move away from the club, while rumours have been further fuelled by his liking of an Instagram post about Cucurella’s departure.
The Argentina international, who is also preparing for his side’s opener against Algeria on June 17, liked Fabrizio Romano’s post confirming Cucurella’s exit.

The midfielder previously caused controversy by admitting that he would like to live in the city of Madrid because it reminds him of Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires.
On June 14, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Fernández is keen to join Cucurella at Real Madrid.
He wrote: “Enzo Fernández is keen to join Marc Cucurella at Real Madrid and has made no secret of wanting to leave Chelsea. Chelsea's asking price remains £120 million, as revealed last month. The club are calm about the situation but will sell at the right price. Real Madrid are currently deciding on the type of midfield profile they want. Mateus Fernandes and Rodri are two other names under discussion.”
Fernández, who joined Chelsea from Benfica for a then British-record transfer fee of £106.8 million in 2023, has registered 31 goals and 30 assists in 169 appearances for the Blues and is under contract until 2032.
What has Enzo Fernández said about his future?
As previously mentioned, Fernández admitted that he would like to live in Madrid, having also cast doubt on his future following Chelsea’s Champions League exit to PSG in March.
“Can I guarantee my continued presence at Chelsea next season? I don't know,” he told ESPN Argentina. “Right now I'm focused on here, then there's the World Cup, and we'll see.”
The 25-year-old was subsequently suspended for two matches by then-Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior.
The player’s agent, Javier Pastore, later leapt to his defence, branding the sanction “completely unfair”.
Pastore said: "Enzo didn't understand the situation. When the coach told him, he accepted it because he's a highly professional guy who's always fully committed wherever he is and respects decisions.
"But we don't understand the punishment because he doesn't mention any club or say he wants to leave Chelsea, far from it.
"He only mentions Madrid, the city, because he was asked which European city he'd like to live in one day.
"He said Madrid because of the language, because it's similar to Buenos Aires and because it's logical – it's only natural for an Argentine to say that – and also because of the culture and the weather. But at no point does he say he wants to leave Chelsea or London."
