Manchester United have received a handy transfer boost from an unlikely source in Real Madrid as they look to finally wrap up a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
United have been courting Mbeumo for well over a month now with the Premier League powerhouse so far failing to agree a fee with Brentford for the Cameroon international.
While personal terms have been sorted between United and the player, they are yet to match the Bees’ valuation for Mbeumo, which is proving a stumbling block in negotiations.
Rio Ferdinand last week admitted that former side United could be faced with a “egg in your face situation” should the deal fail to come to fruition.

United’s opening offer of £45m plus £10m in add-ons was rejected by Brentford, while a second proposal of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons was rebuffed by the Bees at the end of June.

Brentford, who have been linked with Omari Hutchinson, have set a £65m asking price for Mbeumo, and while United’s opening two bids have been rejected, they’re hoping a third will be enough to convince the west London side to cash in on the versatile forward.
And United have been boosted by their 20% sell on clause for Alvaro Carreras after the left-back completed his move to Real Madrid.
Carreras' Real Madrid move to boost Man United
Carreras will be unveiled as a Real Madrid player this week, with United set to cash in on his return to the Bernabeu.

The Spanish left-back departed Madrid for United in 2020 but failed to make a single appearance for the Premier League outfit.
Carreras went on loan to Preston and then Granada, before moving to Benfica last January for the second half of the 2023/24 season.
Benfica then exercised their option to make the move permanent for just £5m last summer, which proved a bargain as the 22-year-old shone for the Portuguese powerhouse.
The Liga Portugal will make a profit of around £38m on the sale of Carreras, of which 20% is owed to United, totalling £7.6m.

Elanga switch to Newcastle to add to United's budget
In addition, Anthony Elanga’s high-profile move to Newcastle at the weekend will boost the United coffers.
The Swede secured a £52m move to St. James’ Park over the weekend, of which United are entitled to 15% having inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that saw him leave Old Trafford for Nottingham Forest in 2023.

The cash injection will go some way to adding to United’s transfer budget as the club look to bolster to Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer.
United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m already, and added Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno.
The boost from Carreras’ switch to Real Madrid and Elanga’s move to Newcastle over the last couple of days should, for the club’s sake, help to push a move for Mbeumo over the line.
