Manchester United could be set to scupper both Arsenal and Bayern Munich’s pursuit of a top Bundesliga prospect during the summer transfer window.
With Michael Carrick now confirmed as United’s permanent head coach ahead of next season, he and the club’s hierarchy will already be considering moves in the transfer market.
The 20-time Premier League champions are reportedly interested in strengthening several positions, including left-back, central midfield, as well as centre-back and striker.
Brazilian midfielder Ederson has already agreed to join the club on a four-year deal, with Atalanta and United agreeing a £35 million fee.

United are also said to be keen on Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.
But who else are United interested in?
According to TEAMtalk, talks have been held over Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, who is reportedly valued at around £50 million by the Magpies, while two other alternatives have also emerged.
The report claims United are considering Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathan Brown, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal both keen on the Germany international.
Brown, who is contracted to Frankfurt until 2030, has impressed during his 75 appearances for the club, registering seven goals and 13 assists. His performances have earned him four senior caps and a call-up to Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old is a versatile option who can play both as a traditional left-back and in a more advanced role on the left flank. He also posted impressive numbers last season, winning more tackles than any other Bundesliga player with 81.
His displays have earned him high praise from Nagelsmann, with the Germany boss recently describing him as "one of the most talented left-backs around".
Frankfurt are believed to value the player at between £50 million and £60 million.
Should he join United, Brown would compete with Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu for a place in Carrick’s starting XI.
Omar Berrada explains Man Utd summer transfer approach
United chief executive Omar Berrada explained how last summer’s transfer success will act as a “template” for the upcoming window, with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens proving successful last term.
“You always go into a window and you don’t know how you’re going to come out of it, but you have to be really prepared,” Berrada told club media.
“You have to have a clear plan, you have to know exactly what positions you’re looking to strengthen, and you also have to be prepared for any eventuality. There could be exits we’re not expecting, there could be opportunities in the market that perhaps weren’t there at the beginning of the window.
“So, we have to be ready, we have to be agile and flexible. But we have a clear plan. Jason Wilcox and his team are very well set up to execute that plan.
“I do think what we saw last season is a good way forward for us, which is we want a mix of experience and youth. We want a mix of players who have demonstrated they can perform in the Premier League and players who are doing very well outside the Premier League.
“But we will always do it on our terms, ensuring that whatever decision we take is not just for the short term, but also for the long term.”
