Manchester City's dominance of English football shows no sign of stopping any time soon, with the Premier League champions reportedly keen to sign one of the brightest talents in Europe.

City are top of the Premier League after winning all four of their games so far in the 2024/25 season, with Pep Guardiola's side favourites to win a record-extending fifth consecutive league title.

There has been huge controversy surrounding City's success in recent years, with the club's 115 Premier League charges hearing finally getting underway on Monday after a lengthy investigation.

City have been accused of various alleged Premier League rule breaches, the majority of which relate to a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018. The Etihad club deny any wrongdoing and claim they have "irrefutable evidence" to support their defence.

The hearing is expected to last around two months and will be overseen by an independent commission. However, a final outcome to the case - including any potential appeal - is not expected to be reached until next summer.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the hearing and any potential punishments for City, the club looks to be continuing as normal off the pitch as well as on it.

That includes planning for the future, with club chiefs determined to continue their hegemony of the Premier League.

As part of those plans, City could launch a bid for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala next summer.

German outlet T-online [via Sport Witness] claim City still 'really want' to sign Musiala after failing with an approach for the midfielder this summer.

It comes after Bayern sporting director Max Eberl admitted contract negotiations with the Germany star have been "difficult", potentially opening the door for a move away from the Allianz Arena.

The 21-year-old former Chelsea academy player is out of contract with Bayern in 2026, meaning next summer could be the final opportunity for the Germany giants to secure a sizeable fee for Musiala – should he decide to move on.

It is claimed that Bayern are keen to sign Musiala's international teammate Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and may need to pay €100m [£84m] to get a deal over the line.

T-online claim Bayern could be willing to sell Musiala for a similar fee, if they're able to bring in Wirtz.

City could face competition for his signature, however, with Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid also linked with the player.

Speaking to Germany publication Sport1, Eberl said he hoped Musiala would commit his long-term future to Bayern.

"It's difficult, but not impossible – as Jamal knows what he has at Bayern Munich," said Eberl.

"He grew up here and has brought himself to this level. Talks are intensifying. We are extremely ambitious, and he knows that he wants to win titles."
