Jose Mourinho blocks Liverpool and Man Utd from signing Real Madrid star this summer

Jose Mourinho has blocked Liverpool, Manchester United and other interested clubs from signing Endrick from Real Madrid this summer.

The 20-year-old Brazil international, who was named in Carlo Ancelotti's World Cup squad, has been linked with a temporary move away from the Bernabeu this summer.

Spanish outlet AS reported earlier in August that Real were open to allowing the forward to leave the club, with Manchester United and Aston Villa the two Premier League clubs quoted as having an interest in signing him.

It was claimed that Endrick wanted to join a club where he would be able to play as a central striker, and preferred to play in the Champions League.

The Times then reported last week that Liverpool would target the 20-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Lyon, if they could not seal a move for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh.

But new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has now confirmed that Endrick will be going nowhere this summer, with the Portuguese praising the starlet for his performances in training.

He missed Real's opening fixture of the 2026/27 La Liga season, a 2-1 win away at Espanyol, but Mourinho says he is suffering from a muscle tendon issue that is not expected to keep him out long-term.

"I didn't want to loan him out or sell him because I enjoy working with this young player who possesses significant talent," Mourinho told reporters at a press conference (via El Desmarque).

"I'm not sure if he'll make [Brazil head coach] Carlo Ancelotti's first national team squad, but having a great friend as the national team coach... he'll call me directly.

"I don't know the specific [injury] issue. There is some tendonitis. It's a matter of prevention rather than a major problem.

"He is a player I like very much, one who has attracted interest from many clubs wanting him either on loan or via a permanent transfer."

Mourinho shuts down transfer speculation

After Real missed out on a move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who decided to join Barcelona instead, it was reported in the Spanish media that Los Blancos would not attempt to sign an alternative target.

Although SPORT claimed that Mourinho 'couldn't believe it' when he was told that Rodri had turned down Real as he was hoping to add him to his midfield, the Portuguese told media that his squad was indeed now finalised - barring unforeseen circumstances.

"For me the squad is closed," he said. "But the market is still open. You never know if a player will come and say, 'I've been benched twice and I want to leave'. In theory, no. But something could always happen.

"In my head, the squad is closed, and I have not asked for anyone. I am very happy with the players I have."
