Jadon Sancho has suffered a significant transfer setback in his bid to leave Manchester United this summer.
The 25-year-old English winger joined United in 2021 from Borussia Dortmund in a £73 million deal.
But he struggled to make an impact in Manchester, scoring just 12 goals and registering six assists across 83 appearances.

After a public spat with Erik ten Hag in August 2023, he was banished from the first team for the first half of the campaign.
In January, he returned to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan spell, helping the German side to reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Although they lost that game to Real Madrid, it was enough to spark interest from Chelsea.
Last summer, Sancho made the switch to London, joining Chelsea in a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

He made 41 appearances for the Blues, scoring five goals, including one in the Conference League final as Chelsea tasted European glory.
But, Sancho and Chelsea failed to agree personal terms and the club paid a £5 million penalty clause to send the Englishman back to Old Trafford.

He now returns to Old Trafford with Ruben Amorim in charge, but his future at the club remains uncertain.

Relations between Sancho and the supporters remain strained after his spat with ten Hag and comments he has subsequently made about the club.
A return to Borussia Dortmund had been rumoured in the press, but sporting director Sebastian Kehl has quashed those rumours.
He said: "Of course, contact with Jadon is always there, in some way, because we have a very long history.
"We have other priorities at the moment, and therefore the Sancho issue may have been played more in the media than discussed internally."

Where would Sancho fit in at United?
With a Dortmund return unlikely, United fans may have to face the possibility that Sancho will return to Old Trafford.
But finding a spot for him in Amorim's 3-4-3 will be difficult.

Matheus Cunha has already joined from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal to play off the left.
And talks are ongoing with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who would be used from the right.
Mason Mount and Amad are both expected to be at United next season and will provide attacking competition.
Although United are trying to sell Antony, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, they may not be able to sell the forwards for their valuations.
Sancho only has one year left on his contract at United, but unless another club makes move, United may have to prepare for his return.
