Todd Boehly 'singled out ONE senior Chelsea player with heavy criticism' during dressing room rant after Brighton match

Todd Boehly 'singled out ONE senior Chelsea player with heavy criticism' during dressing room rant after Brighton match

The Chelsea player has been 'disillusioned with the situation' and was 'cut a disgruntled figure in training' after Todd Boehly's criticism.

Todd Boehly ‘singled out’ one player with ‘heavy criticism’ during his odd speech to the Chelsea dressing room after the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

Chelsea slipped to their third consecutive defeat under caretaker manager Frank Lampard, who returned to Stamford Bridge after Graham Potter’s sacking.

Boehly has come under scathing criticism after his blockbuster £4.25bn purchase of Chelsea last May after ex-Blues owner Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale.

The Chelsea chairman cracked open the club’s war chest since the takeover, with the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk arriving at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports, Boehly took matters into his own hands and delivered a speech to Chelsea players after Brighton’s sensational win at Stamford Bridge.

Joined by board members Behdad Eghbali and Hansjorg Wyss in the dressing room, Boehly called Chelsea’s season “embarrassing” as he brutally pulled no punches.

The Guardian also reports that one ‘big-money’ player, who has not been named, was ‘singled out’ in the scathing criticism from Boehly.

The newspaper added that the aforementioned ‘senior’ Chelsea player has been ‘disillusioned with the situation’ and was ‘cut a disgruntled figure in training.’

According to The Guardian, the Chelsea player was ‘signed for a large fee in the past 12 months.’

Lampard admitted that he wasn’t opposed to Boehly coming into the Chelsea dressing room, but he was left with mixed feelings about the tone of his message.

“I am comfortable with that. I had my things to say after the game,” he said.

“There is maybe some criticism of our old owner of not coming to games and being around that wasn’t always true.

“I remember moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms, I remember being happy. I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

“I had my things to say, if an owner wants to come in and be positive and speak to the players, they can do that.

“No problem with that, it shows passion and that's the first thing that I like.”
