Soccer AM's Skill Skool had some absolute ballers back in the day

We call all hear 'Don't Wanna Know' right now, can't we?

The streets will never forget prime Soccer AM. If you grew up in England during the early 2000s, Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamberlain are as important to you as your own mother and father.

It's still running nowadays, as you can probably tell on Saturday mornings when your timeline is flooded with 'Remember when this used to be mint?' and the sort.

One thing that could bring back that sense of wonder, that sense of enjoyment, is the famous 'Skill Skool' segment. We all thought we had what it takes to be on it. Don't lie.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept, two youth players from the same club went head-to-head in a bid to humiliate the other in front of their teammates.

You had to be there, in the moment to truly enjoy it. Some famous faces did down the years and it's worth a look back...

Jordan Henderson vs Nathan Luscombe (Sunderland, 2008)

An appearance so iconic it captured the attention of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp over a decade later.

One of the Premier League's best midfielders of recent years, it's hard to imagine Jordan Henderson as a tricky winger. It's where he started his career at Sunderland and even where he played for some of his debut campaign.

Maybe the writing was on the wall when he lost out to Luscombe quite convincingly. At least Henderson proved he's got the smack-talking skills with a John Cena-esque 'You Can't See Me' after a filthy round the world. Loses marks for showing his boxers with 'WOW' on the back though.

Luscombe last played for the now-defunct Northern League side Celtic Nation in 2014 after being released by Hartlepool.

Milan Lalkovic vs Jordan Hibbert (Chelsea, 2010)

One of the closest episodes in history? Emanating from Cobham, Chelsea starlets Milan Lalkovic and Jordan Hibbert stepped up to the plate. Picking two from the crop of talent in Chelsea's system must've been challenging. But they didn't disappoint.

Knee traps from Lalkovic, seal dribbles from Hibbert and an outrageous no-look backheel flick that probably swung it in the latter's favour. Riveting stuff.

Neither man made a competitive appearance for the Blues but they'll always have this showdown to look back on.

Danny Ings vs Muzzy Holmes (Bournemouth, 2008)

There's showboating, then there's THIS. From the closest episode to maybe the funniest. Most of these tricks definitely wouldn't slide on a football pitch. Ings has revived his career in recent years after a tough spell at Liverpool with injuries. He single-handedly carried Southampton in terms of being a goal threat before joining Aston Villa and West Ham.

In a rare twist, Ings is a Premier League footballer who successfully graduated from Skill Skool. Both players clearly wanted the win and even took to kicking the ball at each other after tricks to gain a mental advantage. Every man for themselves I suppose. The former Burnley man then had his shorts pulled down by Holmes after being announced as winner. Sometimes, you can be a loser in defeat.

Raheem Sterling vs Christian Nanetti (Queen's Park Rangers, 2010)

Every player has a humble beginning. Sterling has slightly tweaked his game in recent years, becoming more of a goalscorer.

When he burst onto the scene, Sterling liked to hug the touchline and take a man on. All that started at Queen's Park Rangers. Aged just 15, he stepped up to Nanetti and in all honesty it was quite one-sided. Nanetti's forward roll with the ball still trapped in his body needs explaining.

Sterling attempted to get ahead a number of times but kept getting one-upped.
