Sergio Ramos' FIFA 23 card has been revealed - and some people can't believe the downgrade

Sergio Ramos' FIFA 23 card has been revealed - and some people can't believe the downgrade

The PSG defender has struggled for form and fitness in recent seasons, which is reflected in his new FIFA rating.

FIFA ratings can be cruel sometimes, especially when a player is coming off the back of an injury-hit campaign.

The latest victim of the dreaded year-on-year rating downgrade is non other than Sergio Ramos.

Ahead of the release of FIFA 23, which is out at the end of this month (27th), it has been revealed that the PSG defender will have an overall rating of 84, which is well down on his FIFA 22 rating of 88.

In some ways, the downgrade is a fair assessment of his age and form, as we haven't really seen the very best of Ramos since he left Real Madrid last year.

Aged 36, one might argue that his best days are behind him, but a downgrade of that nature does still feel a tad excessive, given the obvious quality that he still possesses.

Ramos has been integral to Paris Saint-Germain this season, playing seven times in Ligue 1 and twice in the Champions League.

It looks as if last year's fitness issues could finally be behind him, as the club have already managed four clean sheets so far this campaign.

Suffice to say, Ramos' FIFA downgrade from 88 to 84 in the space of a single season certainly split opinion on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "He played a very good season and yet..."

Another simply commented: '[The] PSG effect', insinuating that such a downgrade wouldn't have happened if he still played for Real Madrid.

An overall rating of 84 still places him among the top 20 Centre-backs on FIFA 23, but he's in unfamiliar company this year, having previously been the highest rated on the video game.

In FIFA 19, the Spaniard reached a peak rating of 91, which not even Virgil van Dijk can match in this year's edition (the Dutchman has a rating of 90).

While Ramos might not be too happy which his treatment from EA Sports, some of his PSG teammates most certainly will be.

Indeed, two of the highest rated players on the game play their club football at Parc des Princes - Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

The superstar forwards both sit on ratings of 91, where they are also joined by Manchester City talisman Kevin De Bruyne, Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski.
