Ronaldo’s bombshell TalkTV interview has dominated the headlines this week.

The 90-minute sit down sees the Portugal star admit he feels “betrayed” by Man Utd, claim he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag and insist that club owners, the Glazers, “don’t care” about the Red Devils’ on-field success.

Indeed, one of many topics discussed was an incident where Ronaldo refused to come on and left the stadium before the final whistle during a Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ronaldo “sorry” about the incident

Ronaldo expressed regret for refusing to come off the bench but claimed ten Hag should not have ordered him to play in the latter stages of the match.

Speaking on TalkTV he said: "I will be honest with you, it's something that I regret, leaving the stadium [against Tottenham]. Probably, or maybe no, I don't know.

"It's difficult to tell you 100 per cent but let's say I regret, but in the same way, I felt provoked by the coach.

"A coach to put me in three minutes in a game [is] not allowed for me. Sorry, I'm not that kind of player. I know what I can give to the teams.

“Don't tell me that the top players, the guys who want everything, the key players will play three minutes. Come on, this is unacceptable.

"After what they keep saying before, that they respect me. For me it was not respect, this is why I take this decision I regret.”

Morgan’s defence debunked

Unsurprisingly, Morgan leapt to the defence of Ronaldo, insisting that the world’s great players should not be made to come off the bench in the final minutes of a game.

On Twitter, the broadcaster said: “Has Messi ever been told to come on with 3 minutes left and his team winning 2-0? Or Pele? Or Maradona? Or Zidane? Or Cruyff? Or Bergkamp?”

Morgan’s theory was quickly debunked by a Nufcsean, who commented: “He's literally done it before. This season. When winning against Liverpool.”

The Newcastle fan attached a screenshot of the team sheet for Man Utd’s 2-1 win against the Reds, which showed Ronaldo had come on in the 86th minute for forward Marcus Rashford to see out the game.
