Robbie Savage has heartwarming reaction to his son's first senior goal

Robbie Savage has heartwarming reaction to his son's first senior goal

Robbie Savage's son Charlie scored his first senior goal to put Forest Green Rovers 1-0 ahead on Saturday afternoon.

Robbie Savage was on the BT Sport Score show when his son Charlie Savage scored to put Forest Green Rovers 1-0 up against Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Savage had a wholesome response to finding out that his son had scored his first senior goal while on TV.

Charlie Savage is currently on loan at Forest Green Rovers from Manchester United to gain some first-team experience after making his debut for United in a Champions League game in 2021, coming on as a substitute for Juan Mata.

The 19-year-old went out on loan this January for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, with his appearance against Bristol Rovers this afternoon being his fifth for the club.

Robbie Savage was watching the score when he saw that his son had bagged the first of the game. He went on to celebrate on the show:

"My boy has scored! My boy!"

"It's emotional, man. It's class. After all he's been through you know."

After making his debut for United, Charlie Savage did not make another senior appearance for the Red Devils before being sent out on loan at the League One side.

Charlie Savage is a product of United's famous academy, having joined as a child, signing his first professional contract in April 2021, aged 17.

Robbie Savage was also a product of United's academy, being part of the famous Class of '92 team that won the FA Youth Cup, with many members of that team going on to make up the spine of Manchester United for the next couple of decades.

Savage never made a senior appearance for United though, with his son already besting him on that front.

Charlie's current employers Forest Green Rovers sit at the bottom of League One at the time of writing, with Savage saying that he wanted to challenge himself and be in a relegation battle.
